World Athletics, formerly IAAF (International Amateur Athletic Federation and International Association of Athletics Federations) is the international governing body for the sport of athletics, covering track and field, cross country running, road running, racewalking, mountain running and ultrarunning.
The International Association of Ultrarunners (IAU) is a World Athletics Partnership Association and was officially recognised by the World Athletics (WA) in 1988 as the governing body for the sport of ultrarunning around the world. IAU recognizes and appreciates this support and upholds its mandate of promoting ultrarunning across the globe.
IAU and WMA signed a long term cooperation for at least 5 years.
Besides this, both International Associations are working now to extend this cooperation to other events (50K, 100K, 24H).
Nadeem Khan (IAU Vice President): "We are very happy with our five year agreement with World Masters Athletics. Our athletes were excited about this partnership at our previous championships. Keeping this enthusiasm in mind and catering to our athletes needs we furthered our partership beyond 2021.We are looking forward to many more athletes joining these championships as we progress through the coming years"
