We are pleased to announce that the 2024 IAU 24H Americas Championships has been awarded to Mar Del Plata, Argentina. The Championships will take place from September 7th to 8th, 2024. The event will be organised by the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) in Mar Del Plata, in conjunction with the Argentine Athletics Confederation (Confederación Argentina de Atletismo - CADA).
Our excitement is heightened as we've successfully collaborated with the LOC to elevate the previously announced IAU Americas Cup to the stature of the IAU Championships. The remaining 50 km event will persist as the Americas Cup. Consequently, we will host two events:
- the IAU 24H Americas Championships and
- the IAU 50 km Americas Cup.
Both events have been rescheduled to September 2024 from their original date in April to ensure sufficient time for the LOC and Federation to make all necessary arrangements.
LOC will also organise an open race of 24 hours, 50 km and 6 hours relay with limited number of participants. All the details including schedule for each competitions will be provided by LOC in next few days.
We will keep you informed with more details in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, we extend an invitation to you to join us in Argentina and Mar Del Plata.
Mar del Plata, Argentina's premier tourist destination and beach, is nestled on the Atlantic coastline, just 404 km from Buenos Aires City. Its stunning beaches, expansive bays, dramatic cliffs, and lush woods span the 47 km coastline. The inland landscape is equally breathtaking, with rolling mountain ranges, undulating lands, groves, lakes, streams, and quarries. The city enjoys a moderate climate with winter temperatures averaging 12°C to 14°, and summer temperatures ranging from 23° to 27°. With a population density of approximately 750,000 inhabitants, Mar del Plata hosts over 8 million tourists annually.
