Site visit for the 2022 IAU 24H European Championships in Verona

Starting from June 16th till June 19th, an IAU official delegation consisting of Diana Amza – IAU Technical Delegate, Jacek Bedkowski – IAU Project Coordinator and Gregorio Zucchinali – IAU European Representative, traveled to Verona in Italy to do the site visit for the 2022 IAU 24H European Championships that will take place on September 17th- 18th, 2022.

During the visit, the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) represented by LOC President, Giampaolo Aloisi, the LOC General Secretary Stefano Scevaroli and the IAU delegation worked together to go through every important aspect of the Championship: the competition course and infrastructure set up , the hotel that will be use as Athletes village, the Opening and Closing Ceremonies protocols and areas, the meals and transportation plan. There were numbers of other matters discussed related to Championships as well.

The IAU delegation is very happy that the organization of the event is going according to plan and that the LOC is very committed to putting in place a good competition for the European Athletes. There is a strong team behind the LOC steering group to make successful event.

Verona itself is a beautiful city and will bring lots of great memories to all participants, management, supporters, and officials. There are several point of interest to see in Verona and surrounding. What might be interesting for the delegation is the fact that in near distance from the venue hotel there are number of shops where support can buy necessary supplies for the event.

We are all looking forward to see you all in Verona in September.
