Throughout the years, the association has dedicated itself to standardizing ultramarathon race rules and regulations, playing a pivotal role in fostering the growth and recognition of ultrarunning as a legitimate and respected athletic discipline.

With a rich history of organizing world-class events, setting standards, and advocating for sport, the IAU has played a essential role in shaping the ultrarunning landscape as we have right now.
