The first IAU South American event will take place on March 26, 2023 at the Justo Roman athletics track in the City of Mar Del Plata, Buenos Aires, Argentina. There will be a number of competitions, starting with 50 km and 12 hours as well as Argentine national championship for both. The other federations such Uruguay, Paraguay, Brazil and Mexico will participate in the cap as well. There will be an Open race during the competition.
Copa IAU Sudamericana Ultramarathon is the result of continuing collaboration of the member federations in South America. The COPA will serve as another avenue for the national athletes to run on an international stage. This will further elevate the quality of championships and the performance of athletes in the region. I want to congratulate the LOC and the South American federations on putting this very important initiative together.

The teams in the cap can will be made up of 5 men and 5 women in both the 50 km and the 12 hours race and there will be individual and national team classification. In next few weeks the GIS will be distributed to all federations taking part in the cap.
