Pre-race report and starting list
The Taipei Ultramarathon 48H race will take place at 3 PM on February 23rd. The race venue is in a park which was the site of the Taipei Flora Expo. In the 2023 edition, 10 runners reached the IAU international level and braked 5 national records, including a new female IAU world record of 411.458K that was refreshed by Joanna Zakrzewski from U.K. The race received an IAU gold race label.
This year more elite international runners participated in the race, there are Patrycja Bereznowska (F- 403.320K), Bartosz Fudali (M- 397.619K), and Marlena Golon (F- 328.501K) from Poland; INAGAKI Sumie (F- 397.103K), MATSUMOTO Yuri (F- 345.162K) and KISO Tetsuo (M- 389.045K) from Japan; Namkhaidorj Lkhagva-Erdene (F- 321.000K) from Mongolia; Fiona Hayvice (F- 303.607K) from New Zealand; and Szabolcs Beda (M- 410.305K) from Hungary. Plus, the local elite runner, Huang, Hsiao-Chun (F- 357.000K), Jiang, Chin-Yu (F- 322.716K) and Tsai, Wen-Ya (F- 321.329K) will also in the elite starting list. The top three male and female runners who run over the IAU international level will earn Euro 2000 each as prize money.
In addition to the elite list, more runners are entering this prestigious 48H race and trying to improve themselves. Besides the 48H race, there are also 24H, 12H, and 6H categories. There are a total of 80 international runners from 16 countries participating in the race. The Japan team is the biggest, there are 48 runners of them. 10 Hong Kong ultrarunners fly over to run. The predicted temperature is around 16-23 Celsius, very suitable to enjoy the park.
