Update on the 2023 IAU Championships

We understand and respect the needs of our athletes, management and Federations and this is the right time to update you on the progress and status of the 2023 Championships which remained to be decided. We are expecting to have five Championships this year starting from June and finish in December.

As announced on February 6th, the 50 km World Championships, has been awarded to Hyderabad, India and the Championships will take place on November 5th 2023. This was the result from the December round of bidding.

We are currently working on the 2023 IAU 100 km Americas Championships. There is significant progress and we will make further announcement on the Championships later on.

The remaining three championships: WMTRC23 in Austria in June, the 100 km Asia & Oceania in India in July and the 24H World Championships in Taipei in December, will take place as scheduled. There are no changes to those Championships.

Taking into account time needed for the preparation, as well as athletes planning and training and Federations budgeting, we will not open the bidding again. Therefore, we will not host any additional Championships in 2023, a part from those mentioned above. We realise this is very disappointing for the athletes but it allows greater focus on the championships that are taking place and help to look forward to 2024.
