2023 IAU Virtual Global Solidarity Weekend Brazil

We're proud to share with you the information of Brazil and the great Virtual event that we had.

The Brazilian Ultramarathon Team,  with the support of the Brazilian Athletics Confederation (CBAt) , had a productive and exciting weekend, where we proudly wore our team jersey and joined in the IAU VIRTUAL GLOBAL SOLIDARITY WEEKEND.

14 cities across 8 states, 16 athletes covered almost a thousand kilometers, facing the most adverse conditions, to raise food and health care products for charitable institutions and people in need.

Together, teams collected almost 2 tons of food and healthcare products for various institutions and families.

"Congratulations to everyone for participating in the IAU event and for the solidarity shown over the two days. You were incredible," commented Marcos Gomes, ultramarathon special assessor to the CBAt Presidency. "It was a productive and emotional weekend, where the Brazilian team wore the shirt and joined a global chain, with the participation of representatives from various countries."

"With only 3 days left before the end of the registration period, the athletes were selected and nothing demotivated them. They accepted, each in their own way, and the solidarity campaign came out. It was heartfelt, it was difficult, and our athletes showed that ALONE WE ARE INVISIBLE, TOGETHER WE ARE INVINCIBLE! And once again, our Brazil making things happen!" Moraes, Adeluci  - Team Manager

Here are some reports about the event:

In Rio Grande do Norte, Denilson Vieira (Pimba), dealing with the aftermath of a natural disaster with rains and floods, and a wave of violence in the state, showed us how strong the power of humanity is in helping others. Despite the difficulties, he showed up and completed a distance of 54.6km.

"Thank you to everyone who supported, I can't mention everyone, there were many and they made a difference. We closed the event with a sense of accomplishment. Representing the Brazilian Ultramarathon Team, Santo Antônio da Patrulha, and Rio Grande do Sul is always an honor." Santos, Tiarles
