We are very pleased to announce that the 2022 IAU 24H Americas Championships were granted to São Paulo in Brazil. The Championships will take place on September 3rd – 4th, 2022 and they will be organized by the Local Organizing Committee (YESCOM) and the Brasilian Athletics Federation (CBAT).
São Paulo is the largest city in Brazil, with a municipality population of 12.1 million, and about 21.3 million in its metropolitan region - the second most populous of the Southern Hemisphere.
The Organizing Committee has lots of experience in organizing competitions. They hold several international and national events, such as: Brazilian 24-hour Ultramarathon Championship in 1999, and the 24-hour and 48-hour Brazilian Championship in 2000. They have 39 years of experience in organizing international events, among them being: World Athletics International Athletics Grand Prix from 1985 to 2000, Havana Pan American Games 1991, Rio de Janeiro Pan American Games 2007, Rio de Janeiro World Half Marathon Championship 2008.
The IAU and the LOC welcome you to participate in these Championships! We are convinced that the experienced LOC, together with the beauty of the city of São Paulo are a great combination for hosting the IAU Championships. You all will leave with long-lasting memories of the event and surroundings.
