From 27–29 January 2026, an official IAU delegation travelled to Ames, A Coruña, in the northwest of Spain for a site visit ahead of the IAU 100km World Championships, scheduled to take place on 20 September 2026.
The delegation consisted of John O’Regan – IAU Project Coordinator and Tamás Molnar – IAU Technical Delegate.
They were welcomed and accompanied throughout the visit by the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), represented by Paco Rico – President LOC and Maribel Montes – General Secretary LOC.
During the three‑day inspection, the IAU delegation and the LOC worked closely together to review all essential components of the upcoming World Championships. This included the competition course, accommodation options, Opening and Closing Ceremony venues, meal planning, and the transportation and logistics framework for athletes, officials, and teams.
