We are pleased to inform you that IAU Council have decided at its last meeting the following:
- For 50km and 100km events, we follow the World Athletics rules - according to Article 5.3. (C2.1A – Athletic Shoe Regulations). List of approved athletics shoes
- For all other ultradistances (50 miles, 100 miles, 6h, 12h, etc) any commercially-available shoes with shoe sole no greater than thicknesses of 40mm and maximum one carbon plate is permitted. From now on any development shoes will not be accepted for any distances or time races.
Any performances with development shoes (as defined below) in the past are still valid if they complied with the conditions of shoe sole no greater than 40mm and maximum 1 carbon plate .
What is a Development Shoe?
A Development Shoe is a prototype that a shoe manufacturer would like to test in competitions before introducing them into the retail market. Shoe manufacturers provide them to their sponsored and supported athletes for testing.
