Race report of Soochow 24h race 2024

The 21st edition of Soochow 24h race was held on Nov. 30-Dec. 1, 2024. This prestigious 24h race is the only 24h race in the world hosted by a university. Started from 1999, the Soochow race has accumulated two world records, 5 continental records and countless country records. There are 11 international runners and 19 local runners were invited to take part in the race this year.

The race was held at campus track, a group of volunteer students served as lap counters and cheerleaders. The volunteer students created an exciting, joyful and competitive atmosphere all across the race period and becomes a tradition of the race. Even the chip timing system has been used since 2002. Camille Herron tried to got her 24h WR back, so she started with high speed. Iván Lopez, from Spain, who ran the race the third times led the first 12h, while Philip Gore from Australia evenly spread his energy through the race and won the race.

There were seven runners reached international level of IAU include Philip Gore, Shuhei Odani, Iván Penalba Lopez, Camille Herron, Olena Shevchenko, Aiko Kanematsu, Shiho Hirosawa. The organizing committee will apply the gold race label of IAU.
