We are pleased to announce that Emily Harrison Torrence (USA) and Jacqueline Kellerman (South Africa) have been co-opted onto the IAU Executive Council following a unanimous vote of approval by Council members. Their appointments follow discussions held at the April 2026 IAU Council Meeting regarding governance proposals and future representation on the Council, and reflect the IAU's commitment to strengthening both the expertise and diversity of its leadership.
Their appointments represent an important step in strengthening both the Council’s expertise and gender diversity, supporting the IAU’s commitment to increasing female representation in the governance of the Association while enhancing expertise in athlete engagement, governance, and the global development of the sport.
Emily Harrison Torrence joins the Council with a distinguished background as a professional ultrarunner, coach, and Chair of the Athletes Commission. Her extensive experience in athlete representation, event operations, and race organization positions her to play a key role in enhancing the Council’s connection with athletes worldwide. Emily has expressed enthusiasm for contributing her insights and continuing her work with the Athletes Commission.

Jacqueline Kellerman brings a strong professional foundation in finance, accounting, and corporate governance through her career as a CPA and Corporate Finance Manager. Her practical experience as a club treasurer and international team captain adds valuable operational perspective. Jacqueline is passionate about expanding global participation—particularly increasing championship opportunities in Africa—and supporting female athletes across all IAU events. Her financial expertise will be an important asset to the Council’s organisational and strategic work.
