IAU Website re-launch

In the last congress in 2018 we specifically mentioned that IAU Website is the starting point for all information and will remain our focus. This is why we were working on website redesign.

In the last years there were many changes around us and we as global organisation accommodate to those changes as well. We as the IAU always listen and cater to our stakeholders - YOU! We had several discussions with all of you over the last year and we got constructive comments on the development of our website.

It has been some time since we were looking into further updates to our main platform for sharing content. In the last congress in 2018 we specifically mentioned that IAU Website is the starting point for all information and will remain our focus. This is why we were working on website redesign. From Friday, July 31st you will be able to see re-launch IAU website.

The web address remains the same

The concept that we developed is far more than an "idea", "simple illustration" or "decoration" that we replace current website. There is a connection with our mission and at the same time with over 30 years of IAU history.

This are "Gold", "Silver", "Bronze" and "Trail" (green) IAU labels and we incorporate the colors in our design. In addition we could not forget about the IAU logo and "blue" presents there. This is why we look back from the design concept and apply “design by color code". Furthermore, those five colors are an abstract representation of the five Olympic colors which are representing the level of respectability of the IAU in the ultrarunners world. This is what you will see and experience.

The design goal is to break that understatement and present IAU as what it is: association of ultrarunners for the entire world with Athletes and Member Federations from number of countries. IAU has to meet that expectation and we can achieve that with proposed design approach in terms of representation. In addition the multicultural and multi-distance orientated effect that the design brings fully represents our members and desire competitions that we are supporting and take responsibility.

This new concept and the new design are accompanied by further improvements that make the use of the website considerably easier and better:

  • faster loading
  • more secure
  • responsive design for the most available devices

As main NEW design element we created colored ribbons, which may represent the long distance runnings, the pulse of each runners heart, the ups and downs of the distances run.

We put all colors - gold, silver, bronze, green and blue - together to a vibrant, lively strang of ribbons, which is probably a picture of the power of runners, their multi-color diversity or their individual muscle fibers.
