IAU Statement on Russian and Belarus Athletes

IAU would like to remind all stakeholders of our established position regarding the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes in official competitions following our last publication on this matter back in March 2022.

As previously communicated the IAU adheres to the provisional suspension imposed by World Athletics. This suspension means that no Russian and Belarusian athletes are permitted to compete in any official IAU major event (e.g. IAU Championships).

With respect to IAU Labeled events, it is not forbidden for athletes from those two countries to participate, as this is at the discretion of the organization of such commercial events; however, the IAU expects that all IAU Labeled events will comply with our position and will not allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in those labeled events. Only athletes recognized as neutral athletes should be allowed to participate in labeled events.

Finally, any performances by Russian or Belarusian athletes running under the national flag will not be recognized and will not be included in the IAU records listing.
