IAU 6H Virtual Global Solidarity Run India
We are pleased to share results for India Team. Congratulations and thank you for participating in the Global Event.
The IAU 6 Hour Virtual Global Solidarity Run was a big hit in India. We had huge enthusiasm from most of our top runners, and since we had a lot of runners wishing to participate, we decided to field a team of 18 (9 Men and 9 Women) in the IAU Run and an 8 Member team for a Athletics Federation of India (AFI) 6H Virtual Solidarity Run. This was in spite of runners from some of our top cities not entering due to the current pandemic circumstances.
Due to the cancellation of races and the spread of the infections across the country, all races have been cancelled and most of our runners have been unable to run outdoors. We put special emphasis on running in a safe place while selecting our teams.

Thank you IAU for holding this Virtual event, a huge motivator for our team. Our runners have been disappointed with the cancellation of all events, especially the IAU 24 H Asia & Oceania Championship which would have been the first international Ultra event in India. The number of entries we received reflects how popular the event was and while it was a non competitive run, we did see some great performances from our runners in warm and humid conditions.

Our runners were excited to get a chance to run again, even though the event was non competitive. We had 1 runner in the USA, and the others were spread across the length and breadth of India. To beat the heat and humidity, most of our team started their run early on 29th morning, and we had a tracker which was updated every hour to keep the Ultra community informed about the progress of our runners.
The IAU 6H Visrtual Global Solidarity Run was an uplifting event for our team in a year when most events have been cancelled, this was a much needed morale booster. We all hope things normalise soon and we can be running all over the world again.
Our next event for the Ultra community is the Virtual Ultra and Trail Awards function for the top Indian runners which will be held on 19th September at 7 PM India time.
