IAU 6H Virtual Global Solidarity Run Croatia
We are pleased to share results for Croatia Team. Congratulations and thank you for participating in the Global Event.
IAU 6H Virtual Global Solidarity Run was a great opportunity for the ultramarathoners of all national teams of the world to run at least one race together in this strange year. The Croatian team responded with a lot of enthusiasm. Although we missed some of our best representatives, some of our new team members got the opportunity to run at the world level (albeit virtual).

Since the race was run during the weekend when our traditional Night Marathon for the end of summer is held in Zagreb every year, most members of the national team chose this race for their IAU 6h Virtual Global Solidarity Run. We started with a marathon and after entering the finish line we continued circling along the river and lake until the end of the 6th hour.
Several experienced members of the Croatian national team ran on this 10.5 km long path along the river Sava: Veronika Jurišić, Adrijana Šimić and Paula Vrdoljak - runners who already have a large number of championships in their legs, both 100 km and 24 hours, Zdravko Jadrijev - who has already competed for the Croatian national team in the 100km, and this season he planned his first appearance at the world championships in 24h.
In addition to experienced runners, several excellent new ultramarathoners also got their place in the team. For them, this was practically their first real ultramarathon race on time.
Marko Bičanić and Nikola Gregurek achieved respectable debut results (79.8km and 73.1km) and won 1st and 3rd place in the team. Mateja Kaniški, a triathlete for whom this ultra was the first (but we are sure not the last) ultramarathon experience, also made an excellent first step into the world of ultra. We are specially delighted with those debutants in our national team and our ultramarathon family. With such an enhanced and refreshed Croatian ultramarathon team, we are looking forward to future competitions at the IAU level and we can't wait for the time when we will all run together again.
In addition to the Zagreb team, we also had representatives who ran in Rijeka (Ingrid Nikolesić) and Ausburg, Germany (Maja Bonačić). Ingrid chose an interesting location for her performance in the virtual 6h race - an abandoned airport runway in the length of 3.2km - where she caught an excellent 70.7km and the nickname Top Gun ;)
When it all adds up, the IAU 6H Virtual Global Solidarity Run has brought us a bunch of great results, especially considering that this is the warmest weekend of the year (although it was run at night, the temperature in Zagreb was even up to 27 C). Most importantly, it gave us all a wonderful sporting experience, a chance to race after a long time and to run together no matter how far away we are from each other at the moment, scattered around the world.
