We are pleased to announce that Croatia has been awarded the 2027 IAU 100 km European Championships, which will take place in Slavonski Brod on 18 September 2027.
The event will be organised by Ultramarathon Club Mazator and the Polojska Ultra organising team, who have demonstrated great enthusiasm and commitment to bringing the European ultrarunning community together in Slavonski Brod.
The award marks an important moment for ultrarunning in Croatia and recognises the continued development of the Polojska Ultra, which has built a strong history of 100 km racing in Slavonski Brod. The event has previously hosted the Croatian 100 km Championships and has held an IAU Silver Label for its 100 km race for several years.
As part of the candidature process, the IAU Vice President recently visited Slavonski Brod and Zagreb, providing an opportunity to meet with the organising team and local stakeholders, discuss the plans for the Championships, and visit the proposed facilities and course. The visit further strengthened our understanding of the organisers’ vision and their commitment to delivering a successful European Championship.
We would like to congratulate Ultramarathon Club Mazator, the Polojska Ultra organising team and the City of Slavonski Brod on being awarded the Championships. We are confident that the experienced organising team, together with the support of the City of Slavonski Brod and its local partners, will provide an excellent setting for athletes, national teams, officials and supporters from across Europe. We look forward to working closely with them over the coming months as preparations progress.
The Championships will provide an opportunity for Polojska Ultra and the city of Slavonski Brod to welcome athletes and national teams from across Europe, while showcasing the continued growth of ultrarunning in Croatia.
We are delighted to welcome Croatia as the host nation for the 2027 IAU 100 km European Championships and look forward to seeing Europe’s best 100 km runners come together in Slavonski Brod.
More information about the Championships will be announced in the coming months.
We look forward to seeing you in Croatia!
