Race name: 2025 Taipei Ultramarathon

Race place and date: Zhongshan District, Taipei City, Taiwan; February 21-23, 2025

Race distance and label: 48H (IAU Golden Label), 24H, 12H, 6H, 100K

Introduction

The Taipei Ultramarathon 48H race was held on February 21-23. The race venue is in a park which was the site of the Taipei Flora Expo 2010. The flat and 664.4-meter lap course makes it easier for elite runners to refresh their own personal best. There are 48H, 24H, 12H, 6H, and relay categories in the race, but 48H is the most attractive one. And the 48H runners use their proprietary inner lane. The race starts at 3 PM on Friday, February 21, 2025. It is a third consecutive year when 48H race has IAU Gold Label. As the excitement builds for this prestigious event, fans and supporters are encouraged to come out and cheer for their favorite athletes.

Runners’ presentation

Nine elite international runners were invited, plus other international runners and local runners, and a total of 72 runners participated in the 48H run. At the very beginning, the female world record holder, Ms. Camille Herron, and the 6-day world record holder, Mr. Matthieu Bonne dominated the first day. However, they were struggling with their own issue of jetlag and breathing difficulty and had to decide to withdraw from the race.

Poland's runner Mr. Bartosz Fudali and Japan's runner Mr. KISO Tetsuo led the male race from the second day, and they both reached the 400 km number during the final 4 hours. Bartosz broke his own national records and set a new race record, 441.069K; Tetsuo had his new personal best performance ever. Taiwan's runner Ms. TSAI Wen-Ya ran 360.405K, the further distance in the female race. She also set a new personal best and broke the world age record. The other four female runners had reached the IAU International Standard, they are Ms. INAGAKI Sumie, Ms. RIEKO Seki, Ms. IKEDA Yuka, and Ms. TAKAHASHI Yuko from Japan. This makes the race successful and sets the organization on the best track to get the IAU Golden Label again for 2026. This will be the third consecutive year when the 48H event will have an IAU Gold Label.

The top three who reach the IAU International Standard received 2000 euro as prize money. The flat course in the park makes it easier for runners to refresh their own personal best, and strong competition helps to reach outstanding results. This is the third year where results over 400 km were reached; however, this time, it was much further than anticipated. We have invited you to next year's event.
