2023 IAU Virtual Global Solidarity Weekend Bulgaria

IAU 6H Virtual Global Solidarity Weekend is on the perfect date of the year for team Bulgaria because annually it overlaps with Spring 360 - the most popular timed ultra race in the country.

In 2023, the tenth edition of the race, we saw the strongest 6-hour field so far with 15 people running more than 70 km. The participants for team Bulgaria all ran focused and placed at the top of the race results list. Here is a quick summary:

Men:

Hristo Tsvetkov - 87.03 km

Hristo started the day with the intention of breaking the 100km national record. He managed to run 6:53:12, achieving his goal and also splitting 5:30:45 for 50 miles (NR) and 87.03 km for 6 hours (NR).

Emil Genov - 75.04 km

After winning the 12-hour and the 100 km categories in the last 2 editions of Spring 360, Emil decided to join team Bulgaria for the IAU 6H GVSW and started the 6-hour race, adding one more win to his trophy case.

Ivaylo Anev - 74.99 km

This was Ivaylo's debut in road ultramarathons but that did not stop him from running strong and scoring second place, only meters behind his training partner - Emil.

Dimitar Shadoura - 72.05 km

Dimitar also debuted in the runnable ultras on that day, with the intention of scoring a high kilometer count for the team and he did exactly that!

Stiliyan Avramov - 71.45 km

Stiliyan ran 71.45 km for 6 hours... and then he did it again! He placed third overall in the 12-hour race, with a total of 140.45 km.

Georgi Vasilev - 70.32 km

Georgi managed to break 70 km just as planned, even tho he never ran that fast for that long until now. Great job!

Team Total Distance: 450.88 km

Team Average Distance: 75.15 km

Women:

Teodora Petkova - 66.57 km

Even though we only had 1 woman running for team Bulgaria in the 2023 IAU GVSW, she delivered big time. Teodora won the 6-hour race with а personal best of over 66 km!
