The Swedish team consisted of five runners who all did their own variant of running during the weekend. We feel proud and happy to be a part of IAU Global Virtual Solidarity Weekend, especially in these times when we need to bring the world closer together in a positive spirit.
Lisa Ring is known for her smiling adventures and she completed her 6h on a trail with 1125 altitude meters. She was alone, in silence. Lisa ran in snow, ice, mud and sand. According to Lisa this was one of life's most fun and strongest adventures! We are all inspired by Lisa and her positive spirit.
Josef Hamber had a fantastic running day in Landskrona, a town by the sea in the south of Sweden. He got accompanied by many friends during the run and they all felt that they were a part of the event. We are happy that Josef inspired many other runners to join him and be inspired by the spirit of this weekend.
Then we had two runners who are focusing on 24h-races this year. Erik Olofsson ran in Stockholm and took the opportunity to rehearse for the Swedish Championship 24h in April. He ran with a race-specific approach in terms of energy plan and starting speed. Everything worked out very well and he says that not only did he get the opportunity to try his race-plan but also got the support from being part of this global event.
Emir Halalkic ran a 24h-race in the Netherlands and dedicated the first six hours to this event. He did a fantastic race and ran a total of 243,733 km during the whole race! Very well done Emir!
Jessica Svärd started her 6h-run in fantastic weather in Gothenburg. Unfortunately she had to finish early this time and is now focusing on the Swedish Championship 100 km instead.
The Swedish team would like to thank IAU for this event and the global ultrarunning family for participating and bringing us closer. We all need to stay strong and continue to spread the positive spirit that we have among us in our community. This year we especially run for peace all over the globe!
