The Belgian national team coach, André Mingneau, could only select one person to participate because barely a few weeks earlier the Belgian 24h championships had taken place. Some of the other candidates wanted to focus on getting their minimum for the 100km in the next weeks.
Saturday 19 March, together with 11 other runners, I was at the start of 12hrs Sittard in the Netherlands, a race that was organised for the first time. The course of 2044 m ran on the asphalt track in "Tom Dumoulin bike park". The winter cold weather and inclement wind made the running conditions quite difficult. After a marathon distance run under 4 hours I started to have some difficulty but as I was participating in IAU 6H Global Solidarity Virtual Run during this race I decided to stop no sooner than after 6 hours . Distance: 58,54 km. Better next year.
