2020 IAU 24 Hour European Championship - cancelled

2020 IAU 24 Hour European Championship – cancelled. Following the development of the coronavirus situation in Italy, across Europe and globally, it is with regret that we have to inform you that the 2020 IAU 24H European Championship that was planned for September 19th – 20th 2020 in San Giovanni Lupatoto (near Verona), Italy is now cancelled by mutual agreement between the IAU, Fidal and the LOC.

The current global situation is slowly improving, but it is still very uncertain and varies from country to country and it is hard to predict what it will be like in September especially as regards the possibility of moving and travelling across Europe. Moreover at the moment most European athletes are unable to train and compete and it remains uncertain when those facilities will restart.

The LOC is still very interested in organizing the 24 Hour European Championships in 2022 at the same venue. They will discuss this further locally amongst the authorities. The IAU will work with the LOC and keep you all posted when we are ready to make an announcement.

First and foremost we had to consider the health and well-being of our athletes, officials and spectators in making this decision and we hope that everybody will remain safe and well.
