The main topics discussed during the meeting

1. Website development

This was one of the first points in our agenda and very important for the Council to discuss. There will be more focus on the website development so we will have a better platform to share information with interested parties. This will be in line with current standards and allow us to develop ultrarunning globally. In addition there will be work done on the calendar and connection with social media.

2. Continental Records

There will be work done on the Continental Records initially for 4 main distances/time events. The Record Committee and Area Representatives will coordinate the process of collection of data and next steps.

3. Labeling Committee

It was proposed to form the IAU Labeling Committee. There is growing interest from race Directors on IAU labels. There is already interest from people to be part of this committee. In the beginning the goal is to have at least 1 person per continent. This group should ensure that the key targets for the Labeling portfolio are achieved.

4. Future IAU Competitions – timetables for bids

In the upcoming weeks there will be more information on the process for race directors and IAU member federations to show expressions of interest for bidding for future IAU Championships. Details of the schedule will be published on IAU website and social media.

5. Athletes and Para-athletes Commission

At the end of 2018, two new commissions were established by the IAU Executive Committee. The members of Athletic Commission are already established and the Parathletes Commission is being developed. The next steps will be the establishment of the processes and actions that both commission with look after.

There were many other subjects discussed including the progress with the IAU Competitions being held in 2019 as well as our overall strategy going forwards. These are our key highlights and we will keep you posted about developments.
