On september 22nd Nadeem Khan, the President of IAU together with George Scripcaru, the Mayor of Brasov, Florin Florea, the President of Romanian Athletics Federation, Diana Amza, President of the Local Organization Committee and Silviu Prescornitoiu, the General Secretary of the LOC were in the panel of the first press conference for the 2019 IAU 50 km World Championship. The Championship will take place on September 1st, 2019 in Brasov, Romania.

Ultrarunning and its development in the world and in Romania.
One day before, on September 21st in Timisoara, Romania, both Nadeem Khan the President of IAU together Florin Florea the President of Romanian Athletics Federation participated in an informal panel discussion. The topic was ultrarunning and its development in the world and in Romania.
There were several aspects raised during this discussion.
- relationship between IAU and DUV
- possibility of organizing a Balkan Challenge next year in Timisoara
- are there opportunities for coaches to get training, participate in courses at international level
- key points in an ultramarathon, nutrition, pace
Romania is taking big step forward to develop an ultraruning community, races. In 2018 they were the host of IAU 24 hour European Championship. Our role as IAU is to help to develop those events, support this kind of initiative. This is why IAU was part of those important events.
