John has been an international athlete representing GBR and Wales at ultra-distance running from 2007 to 2013 and from then forward has been part of the GBR Ultra team management including his role as 24hr Team Lead since 2017.

As part of UKA’s Ultra-Running Advisory group John has supported the growth and governance for ultra-running in the UK as both a member of team management and in a capacity as a selector and chair of selectors. In addition, John has worked to create selection policies for multiple European and World Championships.

From 2017 to 2021 John served as the Vice-Chair for the UKA Athlete’s Commission, the purpose of which is to ensure the voice of athletes in his sport are heard by their governing body.
