2nd IAU 100 km Americas Championship pre-race report
On July 27th the 2nd IAU 100 km Americas Championships will take place on the coast of Bertioga in Sao Paulo, Brazil. South America has never held an international ultra-distance championship so there is great excitement in the area.

IAU 100 km Americas Championship - race report. Felipe Coast da Silva and Helen Cristina Caldera Deluque both from Brazil won the Championship. Brazil won Men Team and Argentina. Women Team competition. It is new chapter in ultrarunning history for South America. For the first time we had opportunity to have IAU Championship here and it was great success. Brazil and CBAT host Athletes from the region and it was big milestone with sport development for South America.
Ian Cornelius passed away
Ian Cornelius passed away It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ian Cornelius from Australia. On behalf of the IAU we would like to express our sincere condolences to Ian’s family, friends and all those who knew him. Ian was known to many in the Australian and International ultra running community. He had an incredible passion for the sport and was devoted to encouraging others to participate.
First IAU Technical Education
First IAU Technical Education. One of our main objectives is to promote and develop long distance running worldwide by encouraging specific activities in each of the IAAF Continental Areas. At the same time IAU is trying to give back to our ultra-running community as much as possible. This is why the IAU Technical Committee completed the First IAU Technical Education in Bertioga, Brazil. The course took place on July 25th during the 2nd IAU 100 km Americas Championship.10 participants from 5 countries attended this course. Successful completion of the face-to-face course is the opening for them to become the IAU Technical Delegate who will supervise the IAU Label competitions in Central and South America.

First IAU 6H Balkan Challenge On the 23rd May 2020 the City of Timisoara in Romania will host the first IAU 6H Balkan Challenge incorporated into the S24H on the same weekend. During that weekend there will be 6H, 12H and 24H open race as well.

2019 IAU 24H WC update
2019 IAU 24H World Championship – update. Following discussion that took place during the 2018 IAU Congress on September 7th in Croatia it was confirmed that significant work to secure the 2019 IAU 24H World Championship was done. There are still several aspects to be confirmed so we are not in position to communicate time and place for the potential event host.

IAU 24H Americas Championship - postponed. Due to the current Coronavirus (Covid-19) situation in the Americas and globally, we have taken the decision with the LOC at this time to postpone the IAU 24 Hours Americas Championships to a later date.
