2022 IAU 24H European Championships announcement

We are very pleased to announce that the 2022 IAU 24-hour European Championships were granted to Verona, Italy. The Championships will take place on September 17th – 18th, 2022 and they will be organized by FIDAL (Federazione Italiana Di Atletica Leggera) with the LOC GDS Mombocar.

Verona is a city in northern Italy’s Veneto region, with a medieval old town built between the meandering Adige River. It is famous for being the setting of Shakespeare’s "Romeo and Juliet". The Verona Arena is a huge 1st-century Roman amphitheater, which currently hosts concerts and large-scale opera performances.

In the past, the LOC organized the 1st IAU 24-hour Track World Championships in 2001 and the IAU 24-hour European Championships in 1999 and 2006. More recently, in 2020, the LOC organized a successful Italian 24-hour Championship in Bussolengo, near Verona.

The IAU and the LOC welcome you to participate in these Championships! We are convinced that the experienced LOC, with its long history of organizing ultrarunning events, together with the beauty of the city of Verona are a great combination for hosting the IAU 24H European Championships.  You all will leave with long-lasting memories of the event and surroundings.
