|2021 IAU 100 Km Asia and Oceania Championship to be held in Bengaluru, India
2021 IAU 100 km Asia and Oceania Championships is granted to Bengaluru, India. The 100 km event is scheduled for 5th September 2021.
The IAU, The Athletics Federation of India (AFI) and NEB Sports (responsible for the race organisation) invite all Asia and Oceania Federations to send their Athletes to the events. The GIS and Invitations will be send in due time. It is our expectation that these Championships (as announced early 24H in 2020 and 100 km in 2021) in India will be the starting point for a new stage in the development of ultra-distance in the region.
This will be the second of its kind IAU event in India. India is all set to host, 2020 IAU 24H Asia and Oceania Championships in Bengaluru this year. The city has hosted many ultra-marathons over the course of last few years and has witnessed many national best performances created in races of different formats including 24 Hours, 36 Hours and even a 48 hour race. It is also home to running enthusiasts and passionate runners who participate in many running events globally.
Bengaluru is the capital of the Indian state of Karnataka. It is located in southern India, on the Deccan Plateau at an elevation of over 900 m (3,000 ft) above sea level, which is the highest among India´s major cities. The center of India´s tech industry, the city is also known for its parks. Bengaluru is often touted as India´s Silicon Valley has pleasant weather for most of the months during a year. We are hoping for a few course records and personal bests by all the participating athletes during this event.
