IAU Technical Education completed for 2019

One of our main objectives is to promote and develop long distance running worldwide by encouraging specific activities in each of the World Athletics Continental Areas. At the same time IAU is trying to give back to our ultra-running community as much as possible. This is why the IAU Technical Committee completed set of IAU Technical Education.

The first was conducted on July 25th in Bertioga, Brazil (more info here). The second took place on September 30th in Brasov, Romania during the IAU 50 km World Championships and the third in Aqaba, Jordan on November 21st during the IAU 100 km Asia & Oceania Championships to complete set of all trainings scheduled for 2019 as planned.

Seven participants from seven countries across the globe attended the second course in Brasov. The same number of trainee from five countries attended in Jordan. Successful completion of the face-to-face course is the opening for them to become the IAU Technical Delegate who will supervise the IAU Label competitions in respective regions.

After this face-to-face phase, candidates for the Technical Delegates continue an internship, which will end with the submission of a complete event report from the last IAU 50 km World Championship and IAU 100 km Asia & Oceania Championships respectively.

The teachers of the course were the IAU Competition Director, Paco Rico, and the IAU Record Committee Coordinator Emilio Cuadrado from Spain.

After a few years of transition, training and building up a global panel of experts as IAU Technical Delegates, then we intend for all IAU-labeled competitions be supervised by a local IAU Technical Delegate.
