Jackie Fairweather: An Ultra athlete, Triathlete, Coach Passes Away

It is with a heavy heart we extend our condolences to Jackie Fairweather´s family and the Australian Ultrarunning & Triathlon community on her passing away.

The Australian athlete won the world triathlon title in 1996 and finished second three times. She also won the duathon title in 1996.

Jackie won a bronze in the marathon at the 2002 Commonwealth Games.  In 2009, Jackie ventured into the interntaional ultrarunning world winning the 100km Commonwealth Championships in Keswick, UK.

Jackie touched several in the sporting community and her sudden passing away has touched several around the globe. She will be missed and will always be rememberd for her hardwork, her commitment to sports and her work on enhancing the caliber of Australian athletes through her coaching. She was a true champion of the sport and a class act.

We, at the IAU, extend our thoughts to Jackie´s family as they go through this very diffcult time.
